Shared View Indicator

How to tell when your paper is being viewed by someone else and see what they can see

Shared View

When multiple users are viewing a bitpaper, a faint grey box labelled Shared View may appear on your screen. This marks the area of the whiteboard that is visible to all users at once.

The Shared View is determined by the smallest screen in the session. Since each user sees a different amount of the whiteboard depending on their screen and browser size, the Shared View defaults to the most limited view, ensuring its boundaries reflect what everyone can actually see.

Example: If one user is on a large desktop monitor and another is on a mobile phone, the Shared View will match the mobile screen's visible area.

Note: The Shared View box is only visible to the user with the largest screen.

In general, content should be placed inside this area so that all users can see it without having to adjust their view.

Anything placed on the whiteboard outside of this box cannot be seen on all users' screens simultaneously, unless they use the panning tool 5 to move their view.

Users with smaller viewable areas can increase them by using a device with a larger screen or by maximising their browser window.

The shared view indicator is not optional.
